Sessa is a new all day bar and café opening in Herne Hill in late October. Our focus is on warm hospitality and delicious things to eat and drink. We will be serving coffee alongside a small, seasonal breakfast and lunch menu from 8am every day, before switching focus to wine, cocktails and a relaxed food offering in the evening. Imagine your favourite continental café where you can get your morning coffee, lunch and a delicious bottle of wine after work all in the same place… That’s Sessa.
We are looking to hire a team of really nice, committed and enthusiastic people to help us make Sessa a neighbourhood destination to be proud of. Experience in hospitality, wine, spirits, coffee or anything in between is always preferable… but we’re also more than happy to welcome and train those looking to work in the industry for the first time. Above all, we’re looking for warmth and a genuine love of hospitality.
Please email hello@sessa.london and edd@sessa.london to apply.

Our AGM would be second in command at Sessa. This is a great opportunity for a senior supervisor looking to take the next step, or an existing assistant manager who’d like to take a more hands-on role and involve themselves in the opening of a new business. We believe that all managers should be fully involved in service as much as possible, so this isn’t one for any laptop managers out there. Our dream is to make Sessa a destination for locals, so we're looking for someone with a real love of hospitality who wants to become part of the Herne Hill community. Warmth, common sense, product knowledge and a willingness to lead a small team are the key traits we’re looking for. Sessa will have an ever changing list of (great value) low-intervention wine, spirit forward cocktails (all pre-batched in house) and local craft beer on tap. An AGM would have a direct role in curating our drinks offering. We will have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors depending on the season.
Requirements/expectations -
40 - 45 hours per week
Previous experience as a key-holder at a small-medium sized venue.
Opening and/or closing the premises, ensuring all checklists are completed.
Cashing up.
Stock taking.
Leading shifts when GM is off-site.
Existing wine knowledge.
A real love for delicious drinks and food.
Enthusiastic, warm and hospitable.
Happy to work a mixture of evenings, weekends and day shifts.
Hard working and willing to get involved with every part of service.
Common sense.
Please email hello@sessa.london and edd@sessa.london to apply.

We are hiring a senior Sous Chef who is keen to take on greater responsibility and help us launch and grow Sessa. We are looking for someone with experience running a pass who is looking for a role with more creative freedom and responsibility. The sous chef at Sessa would be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our small kitchen and kitchen team, working closely with the Head Chef/owner. The focus of the role would be on maintaining an exciting, casual, seasonal menu that always fits with the style of Sessa. During the day we will make and serve sandwiches, salads and counter food, with a seasonal casual food service on evenings and weekends. Sessa will be a bar that serves food, not a restaurant. Admin would be kept to a minimum, but there will be plenty of room to learn and take on more responsibility over time. We have a small kitchen and a small team, so we expect all chefs to be involved in every aspect of maintaining the kitchen, from running the pass to looking after the KP section. We expect the same of everyone who works at Sessa, regardless of seniority. We will have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors depending on the season.
Requirements/expectations -
42 - 45 hours per week
Ideal for an experienced sous chef, or senior CDP, looking to take on more responsibility.
Desire to put your own stamp on the food offering at Sessa.
Running services on a day-to-day basis.
Ordering and keeping in line with GP targets.
Working on menu development to maintain an exciting and ever changing seasonal menu.
Great communication and organisation skills.
Maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in our small open kitchen.
Please email hello@sessa.london and edd@sessa.london to apply.

A full or part time supervisor role is available to complete our opening management team at Sessa. A FOH supervisor would be a key-holder and occasionally responsible for running shifts. We are looking for someone who is willing to work evenings as well as some daytime café shifts. Whether you have existing café/coffee experience and would like to learn more about wine and bar service, or vice versa, the role would be perfect for an existing supervisor looking for a role with more variety where they can be more hands-on. Equally, for someone who is keen to learn and take on a position of responsibility for the first time. Fundamentally, as with all of our roles, warmth and a love of hospitality is the most important thing. As a bar, Sessa will have an ever changing list of (great value) low-intervention wine, spirit forward cocktails (all pre-batched in house) and local craft beer on tap. We will have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors depending on the season.
Requirements/expectations -
20 - 35 hours per week
Previous experience as a key-holder at a small-medium sized venue preferred.
Opening and/or closing the premises, ensuring all checklists are completed.
Willingness to lead shifts when required.
Some existing wine knowledge or coffee experience is preferred, but not required.
A real love for delicious drinks and food.
Enthusiastic, warm and hospitable.
Happy to work evenings and weekends, as well as the occasional day shift.
Hard working and willing to get involved with every part of service.
Common sense.

We are hiring part-time FOH staff to join our opening team at Sessa. Previous FOH experience in a bar or café is preferred, but we’re more than happy to train enthusiastic people looking to work in hospitality for the first time. Sessa will be a small but fast-paced all day bar and café. The role will be a combination of table service, running food and making/serving drinks. Sessa will have an ever changing list of (great value) low-intervention wine, spirit forward cocktails (all pre-batched in house) and local craft beer on tap. Being warm, hospitable and committed to giving customers a great experience are the most important things. We will have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors depending on the season.
Requirements/expectations -
14 - 30 hours per week
Previous front of house experience preferred.
Wine knowledge a bonus, but not a deal breaker.
A real love for delicious drinks and food.
Enthusiastic, warm and hospitable.
Happy to work evenings and weekends, as well as the occasional day shift.
Hard working and willing to get involved with every part of service.
Common sense.

We’re looking to hire a full-time barista to help establish and perfect our coffee offering at Sessa. The role would primarily be mornings and lunchtimes during the week, with at least one weekend shift per week. We would also offer evening shifts for anyone who is keen to broaden their knowledge of wine, spirits and bar service. We are looking for someone with existing barista experience who would like to take on more responsibilities. Our barista would help in training the wider team in coffee service, alongside our coffee supplier (Old Spike). As well as being responsible for the cleanliness of the coffee machine and coffee station, you would have the opportunity to take on café supervisor duties - opening and setting up the premises and occasionally managing a junior FOH member. Sessa is a small all day bar and café with a focus on local trade, so warmth and hospitality is just as important as making great coffee. We will have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors depending on the season.
Requirements/expectations -
30 - 35 hours per week
Previous experience as a key-holder at a small-medium sized venue.
Opening and/or closing the premises, ensuring all checklists are completed.

Helping with training the wider team in coffee service.
Ability to lead shifts when required.
Some existing wine knowledge.

Enthusiastic, warm and hospitable.
Happy to work mornings and weekends.
Hard working and willing to get involved with every part of service.

We have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors, depending on the season. We have around 30 covers indoors and 14 - 30 outdoors, depending on the season.
